Dan Brown, Administrator & Co-Owner

After spending 18 years in the hospitality industry as a Chef & Pastry Chef, Dr. Brown & I teamed up to open Capital Cat Clinic in 1998. It's been a great experience in building a Veterinary Clinic from the very beginning. I have a degree in Business Management and gained many valuable skills from my prior industry that has helped the Clinic "think outside the box".  After having as many as 6 cats at home I am now tempted to take Cricket home, but I think she may become bored being at home all day without all the attention. So for now she begs for treats and sleeps on my desk in addition to her other favorite  spots at the clinic.

I still enjoy cooking, traveling to NYC, Chicago, Mexico, quiet times in West Virginia or at the beach. I was raised in Washington DC and have lived here most of my life, truly a great city. If you need any assistance please feel free in contacting me at the clinic or send me an email. I want to thank everyone for their continued support of Capital Cat Clinic over the past 14 +years, Thank You!

Chris - Veterinary Assistant

Chris has always loved animals and dreams of being a veterinarian or a marine biologist since he was a child.  He received a start on his career in animal medicine with Capital Cat Clinic as a Veterinary Assistant. Chris has been a veterinary assistant with us since June 2003 and has fit right in with the Capital Cat Clinic family.  Chris has completed a correspondence course to become a certified veterinary assistant and is currently enrolled at Northern Virginia  Community College.

Currently, Chris is owned a
Maine Coon named India.  Chris claims to be a sucker for older cats and has been kind enough in the past to adopt two handsome senior felines with health problems in need of a loving home.  His time at Capital Cat Clinic has been a great experience and he is excited to see where the journey will lead him.

Layla - Veterinary Assistant

Layla always knew she wanted to have a career with animals.  She graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in 1999 and joined the Capital Cat Clinic family in August 2010 with over ten years of professional animal experience.  She has worked as a zookeeper with various institutions for over eight years and has two years experience as a veterinary assistant at a feline exclusive practice in Florida.

She shares a very full house of three dogs (Abita, Riley, and Daisy) and two cats (Goblin and Phoebe) with her partner Heather who is an Elephant Handler at the National Zoo.  In her spare time she enjoys photography, chocolate, and any activity that puts her outdoors.

Chelsea- Veterinary Assistant

Chelsea joined us in April of 2011 and she has been making us laugh ever since.  She joins us with two years of prior veterinary experience and graduated with honors from University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Biological Sciences.   Her natural calm and positive outlook make her a great fit for a feline only hospital and the more challenging cats.  They seem to appreciate her singing abilities more than her fellow team mates.

She is owned by her cat Penny who at times allows her to bring home a kitten or two to foster.
